25

I’m 25! Well, technically I have been for two days now… as my Dad said, he can now give me a quarter. J To be honest, I have been slightly fearful of turning 25 and I really don’t have a legitimate reason for it. I think it comes down to being an adult and realizing my responsibilities are not going to go away or dwindle down, but in fact they are going to get heavier and more extensive. It’s a part of life, I just have to accept and move forward with! I have decided that year 25; will be a year of greatness. I have been trying to make a list of 25 things to do this year. In reality it’s been sort of hard because I want to be able to accomplish all 25 things so they all need to be tangible and do able, but I want to branch out into the ‘unknown’ and be adventurous. I hope by sharing my list, my friends and family will help me and join me as I check off 'my to do list'… and maybe add more that I never even thought of!

  1. Go kayaking
  2. Check of four or five states off the list to visit (my dream is to visit all 50 states)
  3. Go on a cruise
  4. Go snowboarding
  5. Attempt to surf
  6. Touch a wild animal (idk)
  7. Rent a car
  8. Go to a concert
  9. Bake a cake from scratch and decorate it
  10. Visit a new amusement park
  11. Run/walk a marathon
  12. Road trip with friends
  13. Go on a missions trip
  14. Touch the Atlantic Ocean
  15. Tattoo or piercing (the most unlike Melissa thing I could think of)
  16. Go outside the USA
  17. Pay off one student loan
  18. Be an adult; increase savings, budget wisely and set up retirement
  19. Be in two places at once (my reference to walk to remember)
  20. Go on a backpacking trip (eek)
  21. .
  22. ..
  23. ….
  24. …..

I need help with the last five… something do able and exciting.

wow. I did a few of those things when I was 25: I went on a cruise, rented a car, budgeted and set up retirement...i had already touched the Atlantic Ocean, gone overseas, gone on a mission trip, gotten a piercing (that grew in fast), went kayaking, gone to a concert, gone on a road trip with friends...
But I have never gone snowboarding, attempted to surf, ran a marathon (only a 10k), baked a cake from scratch and decorated it, touched a wild animal, or gone on a backpacking trip.

What about learning a new artistic hobby, taking a class you want to take just for personal edification, going white water rafting, taking a train trip, going snorkeling or skubadiving? So many fun things out there in the world!

Fun Melissa! And here I thought you had already been doing so many new things over the past few years :)

I went surfing one day - you might check out surfdiva.com - they run a great program.

Whatever else you decide to add to your list, do it because you *want* to do it. Yes, you should push yourself beyond your current comfort zone... but do things that feel in line with what you really want.

Can't wait to hear how this list goes for you!
